Three candidates are contending for the redefined 38th Assembly District in the June 7 primary.

Assemblyman Steve Bennett, D-Ventura, Cole Brocato, a Republican small business owner, and Daniel Wilson, a civil servant unaffiliated with a political party, are vying for a two-year term. 

The top two vote-getters will compete in the November election.

Ventura County’s state assembly districts saw significant boundary changes during the recently completed redistricting process. 

 The new maps are being used for the first time in the June 7 primary election, and will be in effect until they are redrawn again following the 2030 census.
